The most common wear items on our single axis actuators are the ball screws, drive belts, and LM guides.
All units have LM guides that needs greased typically every 6 months, on higher speed applications grease application may be required as soon as every 3 months. It is important to keep these guides well greased to prolong the life of the actuator, yet not over greasing and causing damaged to the LM guide blocks.
On our belt driven actuators there are typically 2 belts on these units, one coupling the motor to the drive pulley and the other coupling the carriage to the drive pulley. Typically we see the long carriage belt see wear first. Ensuring this maintains proper tension allows for the belt to wear the proper way. When it comes time to replace this belt it is often sold in a "cut to length" configuration to allow for easy tensioning when installing the replacement.
On our ball screw actuators the ball screws need greased at least 6 months just like the LM guides. Based on the application more frequent greasing may be required to prolong the ball screws life span.
Please see the attached documents outlining the maintenance of our single axis actuators.
